Board Rules
1. Thou shalt respect the staff and be courteous to thy fellow members. There shall be no flaming, slurring, or harassing of any member by another member or staff.
2. Thou shalt honour the rules laid out here, as also all other rules and guidelines on the site. Should'st thou be troubled by another member, or by any of the staff, then thou shalt inform the staff and they shall redress the matter. The staff shall administer these rules with justice, impartiality and understanding.
3. Thou shalt register a single account, and thy display name shall be in proper format, with first letter capitalised and with no extraneous letters, numbers, or symbols.
4. Thou shalt refrain from vulgar and obscene speech out of character.
5. Thou shalt give warning before posting or linking to gory or otherwise disturbing content, and thou shalt not post nor link to sexually themed content. Neither shalt thou post nor link to any content otherwise illegal.
6. Thou shalt not use the chat-box for controversy; neither shalt thou monopolise it for thine own personal usage.
7. Thou shalt follow the commandments of the Proboards Terms of Service.
Roleplaying Rules
8. Thou shalt obey the rules pertaining to characters, which thou shalt find here, and await with patience the review and approval of thine application before roleplaying.
9. This board hath a rating of L1/S2/V2, which is explained here. Thou shalt abide by this rating, and remember to post warnings if thou foreseest mature content in thy thread.
10. Thou shalt observe that this is a system free format, meaning that rather than stats it is the players' skill, imagination and common sense that determines the outcome of events.
11. Thou shalt not godmod, nor powerplay: Thou wilt remember that thy character, howsoever powerful she may be, is nowise invincible and may as often taste defeat as victory. Furthe explanation may be found here if thou art unfamiliar with these terms.
12. Thou shalt not metagame: thou shalt remember that thy character doth not know what thou knowest.
13. Thou shalt write thy posts in such English that it may be readily understood, using such tools as thou findest necessary. Moreover thou shalt write them in the third person, past tense, and thou shalt use neither emoticons nor asterisks nor any other modes of chatspeak.
14. There shall be here no word count, but thy posts shall contain sufficient material for thy fellow players to respond to and progress the thread.
15. Thou shalt tag thy threads as open or closed; thou shalt give also the in-character date in the title or first post, as well as any content warnings that may apply.
16. Thou shalt put in bold or colour thy characters' dialogue for ease of reading.
17. Thou shalt post, at the least, once every week for each character, and thou shalt answer the activity checks. If aught ariseth to prevent thee from posting, thou shalt notify the board via the Away thread and so be excused from this rule.
Infractions and Punishment
- Minor infractions shall be met with warnings delivered via the chat-box.
- Should the problem continue, or should the infraction be more serious, a formal warning shall be delivered via private message.
- Should the member still violate the rules, his account shall be suspended for three days. Should he trespass again after this period, his account shall be suspended for a week. This shall happen three times, then the member shall be banned.
Instant Ban
- Posting or linking to pornography or illegal content, or seriously harassing staff or members, may result in immediate banning.
Staff Accountability
- Should a serious complaint be lodged against a member of staff, that staffer shall be temporarily relieved of duty until the matter is settled. If a complaint is found to be malicious, the member shall be suspended for three days or as indicated by the above system.
- Thou shalt not fear to dispute with a member of staff if thou findest her dealings in error. We ask only thou show respect and to bear in mind that the staff have lives apart from this forum. Thou art also bound to accept that the staff have the final word in any argument relating to the baord.
Inactivity
- Threads that have not been posted in for the span of a fortnight may, at the disgression of staff and remaining active members, be resolved in any way that seems fitting, including control of inactive characters by staff.
- Failure to post in an activity check shall result in delinquent characters being withdrawn from play. Should it be required, they shall be written out of the story, and this may include their death.
