I'm breaking up our "locations" for easy locating... There are plenty of things to do, places to visit... and so forth in Chicago. We have only listed a small sample of them for our game. If you choose to make, or visit a location NOT listed, please keep in mind- as possible- we're using "Real world" applications for Chicago. Using Google is a great place to find say a walmart or target. Some buildings have changed their names since 1989-90, we are using the old ones as possible.
Remember, this is freeform, we can adjust things as we need too, but if we adjust too much the sand box has an earthquake.
Chicago boasts skyscrapers, including the Sears Tower (The tallest building in the US.) It has the EL (Elevated Train), one of the most complete public transportation systems in North America. Situated on fairly flat terrain, and and located next to a lake that is large enough to qualify as an inland sea, it serves as the MidWest's center of industry, culture, and business. Though Chicago is situated in Illinois, it has suburbs in both Wisconsin and Indiana. It is part of a metroplex that includes much of the area along the southwest edge of Lake Michigan. Almost the entire area, from Gary to Milwaukee, constitutes one, enormous community, and, if taken as a whole, is one of the largest Metropolitan areas in the world.
Our game, however, deals primarily with the city of Chicago itself. While we may journey to "other areas" they will be unlocked through storyline or player movements as part of storylines... Like other areas of the world, including new york.. However, our "feature" story is in Chicago.
Chicago is one of the most important transportation centers in North America, serving as the primary Midwest convergence points for both railroads and freeways. It has a port which, via the St. Lawrence seaway, has an outlet to the Atlantic.
Chicago has a population of 2,782,726 in 1990. Chicago, more than any other Midwestern city, has an indescribably Gothic look to it. Perhaps it is some aspect of the vaulting rows of skyscrapers or the constantly overcast skies, or it could be the gargoyles that guard the corners of many of the older brick buildings. In this Gothic-Punk city they have not torn up a lot of the cobblestone streets, and many police still ride on horses. They still have street cars (instead of buses) and the enormous St. Nerius Cathedral looms over Washington Park.
Chicago Sits along the southern shore of Lake Michigan in the State of Illinois, USA. The lake exerts a strong influence on the city’s climate, and has led to the city gaining the appellation “The Windy City.” Night time temperatures range on average from 25 F (-4 C) in January to 75 F (24 C) in July.
Chicago is not as windy as it’s nickname might suggest. But certainly the breezes of lake Michigan are as constant as they are brisk, especially on cold, winter nights.

Travel around Chicago:
Road:
Taxis are fairly common in downtown chicago, and become rarer as one moves away from the center. Fares range from 5 to 50 dollars depending on the length of the journey. There is also a fairly widespread streetcar system which can be slower than taking a cab, but for the low fare of two to five dollars depending on journey length, it’s more reasonable price wise for the poor or the student. Cars can also be rented to those 25 and older, and who have appropriate credit histories.
Air:
Many of Chicago’s skyscrapers have rooftop helipads, and many corporate and private helicopters and heliotaxis fly about the city. It has become increasingly popular for the wealthy. A heliotaxi charges 120 dollars for any ride, regardless of distance. However, they only serve Chicago, the inner suburbs, and the O’Hare Airport.
- It is also important to note there are two airport’s in Chicago. The main airport is also one of the world’s largest and busiest airports and that’s O’Hare. The second, smaller airport is Midway and located close to the downtown area.
Rail:
Chicago has a highly-developed system of trains and subways. Fares are 6 to 15 dollars on average and can take you as far as the outer suburbs. Union Station has access to Amtrak and can transport people all across the country by rail. (*Amtrak’s modern website can be used for getting an idea of how and where the train lines go, they haven’t changed much in the last 15 years..)

For all "Champions" (Player characters) Leaving Chicago causes something to happen. IF YOUR CHARACTER AT ANYTIME TRIES TO LEAVE CHICAGO please send a PM to the Joy or the Admin with a link to the thread. We'll take it from there...
Overview Image:
Chicago is a large city, and it’s not so unlikely to find yourself getting lost among the various neighborhoods, suburbs and different areas. Likewise, in our game it’s easy enough to find yourself in a location *not listed on this list.* These “Gray areas” are known as the “Outlands” and are apart of the game that is undefined. To wander in the outlands is an adventure that is ever changing and- at times, pretty boring...
For sanity’s sake (and so people don’t have to read a huge book on Chicago) the staff have broken down the city into five “Districts” the Downtown District, North Chicago, South Chicago, The City (Other Locations) and the Outlands. [And because I’m a horrible, lazy person, I am using a roleplaying book that uses chicago as a backdrop for my information - and- maps... You can hate, or thank me later. ] There are of course, many locations, houses, businesses, small shops, big shops...etc.. all not listed.. However, we also don’t give you a giant list of “NPCS” to go through in order to see who’s walking an everyday street either. Hours of operation are “typical” for that store, if it’s a Mcdonalds it’s probably open 24/7, but a public office or store are more likely to be 10-6 or 9 to 5. Most “Nightclubs” unless otherwise stated, close at 2 am and the earliest they can open again for business is 6 am. If you have a question or would like to “add” a location on our list, please see a staff member. Thanks!
All wiki document links are meant for reference, not absolute “what’s there”- because WIKI is updated through 2014, but we stop and get off at 1990 in an AU universe, there are changes, such as some companies are still there (or not there yet) and some buildings are still you know, apart of the world today... If you are in doubt, feel free to grab an ST for clarification
