In our game the threads are listed not by location, but by date. We have a flowing timeline. Every month, on the first, 4 days will close and 4 new days will open. Threads that are incomplete on the four closed days will be given a grace period of one week to finish- or by default- will be assumed they are finished.
This is time passing. If we don't force close threads and have a system for doing so our timeline will stagnate and with it, the game. You don't have to play every hour of every day- and everyone starts December 24 if you join the game between February 15 and April 1st.
For those joining the game beyond our "beginning threads" they are joining late, and will be assigned a day based on the plotlines- as well as given their beginning information accordingly.
Players can, as needed, request a thread remain open if it's close date has passed. On a case to case basis the staff with decide if it's logical for it to remain open an extra month or not.
Because our threads are based on Date, threads should include the following in their title:
Time- Location
This can be a rough estimate (about 4:00 pm, Inside the Loop) or it can be specific (4:08pm, Sears Tower Observation Deck)
Your characters, unless they can teleport, can't magically go from downtown chicago to the northside instantly. You should allot for some travel time between different locations. Some mistakes are okay (we are all human) but if it becomes a problem someone on staff will come talk to you about it.
All threads are open- unless it's in a location that is obviouslyhard to get into, has security or other measures. For example, to enter Blue Velvet, you have to get past Gibson. To get to the VIP room you have to have a VIP card to slide- or you have to attempt to slip in with someone else on the sly. Either way, your going to have to work and take into account those steps to join a scene. Inside someone's private residence your going to have to say how you are there, or not there. And if you are intruding on a private scene in a private location- then you better be prepared to explain it to the staff member who comes to check.
Remember, staff have the final say. If we didn't trust the people on staff, they wouldn't BE on staff.
Thank you!
