SUPERNATURAL/XGENE POWERS
Theme or overarching Idea:
Beginning Mutations:
- Telekinesis: Jean Grey is enable to levitate herself or other objects, propel or manipulate them however she wishes.
- Levitation: Jean can lift and move objects by thought.
- Telekinetic Maneuver:
- Telekinetic Grip: She can grasp a target firmly in place, preventing it from moving or being moved. This power can be used in various other was like telekinetic choking.
- Telekinetic Pull/Push: Jean can pull targets towards her or push them away. She can propel objects across the room.
- Homing Effect: Jean can make any object automatically follow, home in and lock onto its target (or targets) until the object hits them.
- Motor-Skill Manipulation: Jean can manipulate the movements of others.
- Object Manipulation: Jean can manipulate an objects inner workings such as telekinetically unlocking a door.
- Spatial Sense: She can ‘see’ or ‘feel’ her surroundings using telekinesis.
- Telekinetic Blast: Jean can emit telekinetic energy to make a blast that can damage or destroy a target.
- Telekinetic Compression: Much like telekinetic grip, Jean can use her telekinesis to crush or squeeze an object.
- Telekinetic Combat: Jean is well adept at using her telekinesis in combination with her use of physical combat.
- Telekinetic Flight: She can use her telekinesis’s to levitate and maneuver through the air.
- Combustion: Jean can speed up the molecules in an object or in the air to create fire and other things.
- Telekinetic Destruction: Rather than setting things on far, she can even speed up the molecules to make things explode.
- Force Field: Jean can condense the air around herself to create a protective shield.
- Mechanical Manipulation: A combination of Object manipulation and Spatial sense, Jean Grey and feel the inner workings of some machines and manipulate them.
- Biological Manipulation: Similar to manipulating molecules, Jean can stimulate the cellular structure of a target. She can use this power in various ways such as telekinetically enhancing a target’s condition for a time.
- Telepathy: Jean Grey possesses the ability to read, influence, control, and communicate with the minds of others. This has a multiple of ranges including but not limited to:
- Telepathic Defense: Jean Grey can create a telepathic cloak to mask her presence and her abilities from being detected by other psions and psychic entities. She can extend this defense to others and even cloak minds from being detected by devises similar to Cerebro; this ability, however, is not perfect and stronger psions may be able to see through.
- Psionic Shield: The ability to create a shield to protect others and herself from most telepathic attacks.
- Telepathic Illusions: The ability to create realistic illusions and cause individuals to experience events which are not actually occurring. This goes further into creating telepathic camouflage where she can alter the physical appearance of herself and others by altering the perceptions of those around her. This can even go as far as making people believe they are not there at all. The limit to this ability has more to do with the number of people she is trying to fool rather than the number of people she’s trying to camouflage.
- Telepathic Manipulation: As previously mentioned, Jean can influence and control the minds of others. This ranges in various ways: Mind control and possession, Personality alteration, Mental Paralysis and Amnesia, Mind transferal, Inducing Pain, Heal Mental Trauma, Mental Sedation, Neural Jumpstart, and Dilate Power.
- Mind Link: The Ability to develop a mental link with any person which remains as a connection to that individual.
- Psionic Blasts: She can project psionic force bolts which have no physical effects but can affect a victem’s mind.
- Astral Projection: Jean can project her astral form onto the astral planes or the physical plane. In the Astral Plane she can mentally create psionic objects and manipulate her environment. She can communicate with others via her own will, or through the thoughts and memories of others. Over the physical plane she can travel in astral form over vast distances.
- Mental Detection: She can sense the presence of another superhuman mutant within a small but as yet undefined radius by perceiving the mental radiations emitted by the target.
- Psionic Firebird: She can manifest her telepathy into the form of a firebird whose claws can inflict both physical and mental damage.
- Eidetic Memory: A side effect of her telepathy.
How the mutations will grow and develop potentially down the road: I do not plan for her to grow any further unless somehow needed for storyline purposes.
Drawbacks of the Mutations, Weakness or ties in to other “problems” listed above and how that equals out what you have to begin with: The amount of power Jean has access to at any point is based on her current health, mental blocks (natural, or constructed), and sometimes for other, more specific reasons.

HISTORY OF THE CHARACTER:
Jean Grey was just ten years old when her best friend Annie Richardson was struck by a car. As Jean held her friend, she began to experience Annie’s thoughts as she died. The event was traumatizing and left her withdrawn, depressed, and completely unable to control her newfound abilities. She had to isolate herself just to keep her own sanity intact. Almost a year later, a psychiatrist referred the family to Professor Charles Xavier.
Professor Xavier explained to Jean that she was a mutant and began helping her control her powers. He taught her how to levitate and manipulate objects with her mind when her telekinesis developed at thirteen. He even had Jean help him calibrate the Cerebro, and it was during one of these sessions that Jean’s first reached out in the form of a phoenix and touched the mind of Scott Summers. Professor Xavier then erected a barrier in Jean’s mind to block her telepathic powers until she had the needed maturity to deal with them.
Jean continued to hone her telekinetic abilities and became a founding member of the X-Men under the name of Marvel Girl. She went on various adventures alongside her fellow X-Men and eventually grew to develop feeling for Scott Summers, but chose not to make her feelings known. She eventually graduated from the School for Gifted Youngsters and went on to attend Metro College where she earned a degree in Psychology while working with the X-Men part time.
She realized that she missed the adventurous life-style and returned to the team full time after she graduated. Jean even revealed her feelings to Scott and, after discovering that he felt the same, the two began to date. Xavier decided that Jean was finally mature enough to use her telepathic powers and lifted the barriers that he had placed in her mind years before.
Jean continued to play an important role within the X-Men. When Xavier supposedly died in battle, only she knew that the mutant called Changeling had secretly taken his place. Xavier remained ‘dead’ and the X-Men disbanded until an alien race called the Z’Nox arrived. Xavier came out of hiding and with the help of Jean they were able to repel the invasion.
In a later adventure, Jean along with other X-Men were kidnapped by a Sentinal and imprisoned aboard Steven Lang’s space station. They were able to defeat the man and escape via space shuttle; however, they were met with a solar radiation storm. The cockpit lacked the proper shielding and Jean, after absorbing an ally’s flight knowledge, volunteered to pilot the craft. She flew her friends through the storm and crashed into Jamaica Bay.
Her team was surprised to discover Jean emerging from the wreckage unscathed; but, she was not Jean Grey. During the flight through the solar storm, Jean had succumbed to the radiation. The Phoenix Force had heard her telepathic cries of anguish and offered Jean her ‘heart’s desire’ which was to save the lives of the X-Men and herself. The real Jean fell into a coma and the Phoenix Force took on her form and absorbed a portion of her consciousness before guiding the ship back to Earth. The Phoenix left the real jean in a telepathic cocoon at the bottom of Jamaica Bay and took her place.
No one as the wiser, and the Phoenix actually believed herself to be the real Jean Grey. The Phoenix eventually went insane due to the mental manipulations of Mastermind and became the Dark Phoenix. The portion of Jean’s conscious ultimately won over the Dark Phoenix, causing it to commit suicide. She met with Death who explained the Phoenix Force to Jean before sending her back to her body which was still in stasis at the bottom of the Jamaica Bay.
Jean’s body rejected the consciousness and the Phoenix Force and it then went to her clone, Madelyne Pryor created by Sinister. Madelyne and Scott married and had a son, Nathan Christopher Charles Summers; however, months later, when Jean Grey finally emerged from her cocoon, Scott left Madelyne for Jean Grey. This ultimately led to an all-out battle between the two powerful telepaths which ended in Jean absorbing both the Phoenix and Madelyne personalities before she fell unconscious…

RP SAMPLE:
The click of Jean Grey’s high heeled shoes echoed down the otherwise silent hallway. The lights had been shut off, leaving only a few trickles of moonlight to guide her down the long passage. Jean didn’t mind the darkness as it was a welcomed change to a long day of harsh florescent lighting. I really should talk to them about switching those out, she thought to herself as she slowed to a stop in front of a smooth wooden door.
A small exhalation that was not quite a sigh parted from her lips as she reached for the door’s slightly tarnished metal handle. It was cool to the touch, an inviting sensation after a hard day’s work. She opened the door and let the familiar scent of fresh bread spill into the hall. Jean smiled and stepped into the kitchen, slowly closing the door behind her until she heard it click into place.
A few minutes later there was a kettle on the stove and Jean was sitting at the table watching the black leaves sway against the dark backdrop of night.
