Dimensional Witch
---
Full Name: Myste
Codename The Dimensional Witch
Nicknames: Myste, Boss, DW, Minion
Gender: Female
Age: 1534, appears in her low to mid 20s
---
PHYSICALS:
Height: 5’4”
Weight: 118 lbs, muscular/lithe
Hair Color: past floor length flame colored (red) hair
Eye Color: emerald green
Scars, Birthmarks, Tattoos or other identifying marks: Myste has pale white skin, so pale that people can, in some light, see the faint blue lines of her veins, giving it a “marblized” like look. Sure to burn in any type of sunlight type skin.
Any other important things to note about the physical character:Myste is impossibly beautiful. She is ‘unnaturally’ beautiful.. That’s not a good thing, most people can spot that she is the “odd person out” in a crowd- and either people worship her or hate her on sight There’s rarely a medium. In other words, her beauty is never a benefit, it’s a curse.
Physical Skills:
Alertness 5: She’s an ancient vampire and she’s paranoid... Alert is an understatement.
Athletic 3: Okay so she’s let herself go a bit.. used to be she could run around in a mini skirt and chase down bad guys “in the name of the moon” but now
Dodge 4 With the quickness of a cheetah and the effort of a sloth, Myste can dodge like the wind- bullseye!
Melee* Claymores/ Large blades 5 Surprisingly, or... not surprisingly.. Myste has a lot of skills with a large blade twice, or three times her size. It’s handy for defending oneself from things that only die when you chop their heads off. In fact, she’s pretty good at beheading...
Hunt 5 .. Hey... She’s gotta eat too ya know... and her foods not at a supermarket.. (well.. technically I guess it could be..)
Ride 2 She used to be pretty good at riding.. Now horses hate her and riding is definitely not as pleasurable an experience.. soooo she’s rusty... and the horses hate her... at best she’s a 2.
pickpocket 2 Boredom..
Stealth 3 She’s a vampire.
Throwing 4 She has this thing for dagger throwing- mostly recreational- see above how most of the things she’s used to killing require.. er.. stronger methods..
Physical Weaknesses (if Any):
[See power weaknesses, Light Senstive, Fire sensitive.... ]
Myste has a drinking problem... Now... You might be asking why this is a problem she’s a vampire... alcohol doesn’t affect her right?
Wrong.
If she mixes it with blood Alcohol still affects her.... And on nights where her memories are a little.. emm... close to the surface she is more likely to get drunk and make bad decisions...
---
SOCIALS:
From Marvel (Canon), if so, What “World” or Comic, or Storyarch if possible? Plucked from the shores of Vampire the masquerade... (... You can run your game your way, I chose to have a dimensional witch with flaws.. deal with it..)
Nationality, Religion, feelings about religion: Myste is ... fundamentally your old, old old school christian... but she was also raised in a somewhat pagan beginnings of that christianity... And since she became a vampire- well.. Religion just is something to be chased after, and admired- from a far. Very far. Raz had been a priest and he had been her spiritual... wellspring.. with his death her “faith” plummeted... And she doesn’t try to think about it too much, it reminds her of him.
Languages Spoken: English, Japanese, Mandarin, Latin, Italian, Welsh, Greek, Celtic, Gaelic, old German(she won’t get newer words or references), some french, some russian... and a bunch of long dead languages no one speaks anymore. Some of the more modern dialects (pre 1800s) she is less likely to know then those before it when she traveled a lot more.) She can usually muddle about to get her point across if she doesn’t know the specific language however. (Oddly enough, Sanskrit and Hindi she has very little to no knowledge about... and will puzzle the crap out of her.)
Class in Society, Education: Nobility, High Class, College Education- multiple times.. a girl gets bored..
Occupation: Dimensional Witch, Impartial Judge of Eden, Club Owner (The Blue Velvet)
Family Details:
Of those that matter?
Myste had many adopted children, though most of them she’s forgotten or she vaguely remembers by personality trait. Her only birth daughter however was Astra Van Helsing, who was adopted by her “test tube” son Wolfgang (Wolf) Van Helsing- not that one... Though he and his Brother D (also a test tube son... Dude vampire scientist-magicians are a bored people...) were very adapt Vampire hunters of their time... Astra is a sore subject, but as “She” has been reincarnated in a few of of the other character’s I’ve played in the past, Myste would definitely react to the name and description- but they aren’t the same person.
Myste’s two “siblings” of the heart were Kalika and Raziel Luna. Raz is dead, some ten years, and Kali didn’t join her in her job as the Dimensional Witch of Eden.
She has no family in Eden.
Additional Social Information:
Myste employs two people at the Blue Velvet Club that are a bit more “in the know” then most people. Those are the bartender for the club and the bouncer guy. (Lazy they arein the blue velvet club description.) Both of these two serve has her “handmaids” and operate things when she can’t. Usually during the day or offering a “face” for the club members as a whole to see as “the boss” Leaving Myste to operate in peace... you know.. until someone figures out she’s THERE.
Social Skills:
Acting 5- She’s a vampire. She has to act mortal, do mortal.. breathe.. like a mortal...
Diplomacy 3- Sometimes she even remembers how not to piss people off..
Empathy 2- used to be much much higher, in fact, she was very empathetic... but since Raz’s death she’s dulled this out as much as she can.
Fortune Telling 5 The ‘rot are her best friends.
Haggling 4 She has to be good at haggling or people would be making away with wishes for murders!
Interrogation 4 >< She’s a vampire? She’s a dimensional witch? Because I said so!
Leadership 4 Lead on.
Subterfuge 5 She could get away with murder... has actually...
Theology1 She doesn’t talk to god, but damnit she knows He’s there!
Social Weaknesses (if Any):
Untrustworthy - She’s vampire.. the dimensional witch AND she’s got ins that other people, well don’t.
Some people also may find her beauty when she’s unmasked to be overwhelming and “false” (it is.. very false.. not real.. superficial..)

MENTALS:
Personality: Myste has a horridly twisted personality at this point. She was once almost a complete mother “bear” guarding her cubs and raising kids, even adult ones. She had a strict code of honor and what she expected her friends, family and children to follow. She was quick to call people friend and love and bring them into her home and heart. She was kind, gentle, and never liked hurting anyone. People tended to gravitate to her for either the warmth she could provide or to protect that warmth.
The years have twisted her however. No longer does she bring people close and hold them tight. Now she keeps everyone at arms length. In some cases it’s almost as if she’s preparing herself to die and wants no one to mourn her. She is a loner, still practicing her brand of justice and honor- but not with a band of friends at her side. She operates for the greater good, or at least, she used too. Now she’s bound by the rules given to her by the “powers that be” and operates under them, carefully giving assistance as she can.. But everything comes with a price.
Fears and Phobias: Getting close to anyone. Shit, you would be too if you were an ancient vampire used to people dying. It makes her one of the perfect tools for the Powers that Be.
Myste has a fear and a phobia of Crosses (see mutant weaknesses)
Myste has a fear of Sunlight (See mutant weaknesses) (She’s not “Afraid” of moonlight, but it can still do damage to her if it’s a mutant power and focused.)
Mental Skills / Knowledges
Academics 5 She holds a lot of degrees.. english... science...even a nursing midwifery degree for medical school (she was too lazy to get get a doctorate..)
Herbalism 5 Myste has a knowledge of herbs and herblore, at least, anicent ones... and assuming she can get a supply on this Earth, she can use her knowledges for the forces of good, evil or the weird dance between.
Investigation 4 She’s curious as hell.
Law 4 She knows both the laws of chicago, as well as the laws set down by the POwers that Be- but she’s not an expert... just.. Good.
Medicine 3 Myste has some medicine knowledge, comes from mid-wifery stuff. She loves babies... And also because of her ...
*Body Crafts 5 This is a “sidestep” from medicine that focuses on anatomy and how bodies and body parts all work together as a whole.
Occult 4 She’s been around for a looong time.
Science 4 mmm Science.
Sense Deception 5 Myste can smell a lie a mile away
Speed Reading 4 ZIp. New novel please.
Writing 4 Stories.. she hates poetry.. but stories... stories she loves...
Mental Weaknesses (if Any):
Terrible with names- When your old, things slip past you. Names give things power, make them “real” ... so perhaps it’s not all that surprising Myste is horrible at names. Oh, she’ll remember faces, things that happen.. but names? Not if she can help it.
Flashbacks- 1500 years.... can give you such a crick in the neck. More Brandy?
Deep Sleeper- mmm Sleep.... Very little wakes her up once she’s finally gone.

SUPERNATURAL POWERS
Theme or overarching Idea: Vampire Witch ~
Beginning Mutations:
All of Myste’s abilities come from the use of her blood except the ones granted by Bottle, Wand and Mirror- those powers are granted based on a “higher power” and aren’t hers to command or control.
There are many things that Myste rarely uses and thus, for the most part has forgotten.. She remembers some things however...
Myste can heal small wounds (puncture wounds.. scratches...etc.) with her tongue. Yup. Nasty isn’t it? But there ya go.
Myste can “heal” people... Or hurt them.. She is one of the few who have the ability to flesh and bone craft... Myste usually uses this as a very painful healing process. (.. She literally stretches skin, muscle and bone into a new shape. This is not painless or pleasant, it HURTS.) Others of her ilk have used this sort of thing to make human chairs... and other such lovely decorations... Myste has always used this for healing- when- again- there was no other hope. This power however can be used to permanently.. rearrange things as well... including but not limited to making people look like someone else... or improving looks.. losing that nagging tummy fat... Yup.. there’s a price to be paid for it, not just pain- but it’s one of many reasons why she’s the Dimensional Witch of choice.
Myste has some “quickness” to her... allowing her to get a “jumpstart” on most things, but nothing more than just a “fast” human could do. Nothing “unnatural” so much as just good reflexes.
Myste has the abillity to take in a hit... avoiding some bruising.. This is a little “supernatural” but not so much that she can shrug off a 2x4 slamming into her. Bones would break, she’d get serious bruises..etc.. But a punch? from a regular human? That she could shrug off...
Myste knows how to do telepathy- well, sort of. Unlike most “telepaths” myste is of course, well, dead. To “go outward” in her mind she has to make a focused effort that.. well.. is distracting at best. She can be a bit “forceful” as well. She knows how to give it backwards as well, looping in not just one or two, but many people into a “telepathic conversation”.
Myste has the ability to know when people are lying to her. It’s an innate gift, a side to a power she can’t remember anymore, or perhaps, it simply brings up bad memories. (Reality: She still can do it, but she’d have to be crazy - Multiple personality crazy to use.. and .. well.. no one needs Myste ‘that’ crazy so we just let her think she can’t do the illusions anymore..) Any hoo most illusions don’t work on her- and she knows when people are lying to her. Not half truths, but flat out lies.
Finally Myste has some minor powers, in mental manipulation. Unlike most telepaths with the skills to do things, Myste is very limited in what she can- and can’t do. For example, she can’t engage in psychic battles. However, for those who aren’t telepaths she can manipulate memories, helping people “forget” things.. She can command the simple minded “Sleep.” “Eat” “Stop” “Freeze” one word simple commands... But that’s it...
Magical Voodoo:
Myste is an elementalist in the way she can channel her blood to heal out from herself and toward others.
She can control the weather (rolling in fog off the lakes, calling down rain over a wide area, etc) She can control fire enough that she can make figures that dance and sway and not burn anything they touch until she lets it go.
She can control plants to curl up around people and hold them fast, grow unnaturally fast, or even hide her trail.
She can scry with still water, and summon splashes and waves and flowing walls of water and even make prisons out of moving water.
She has innate control over her blood and those of others.
As most powers this doesn’t have much help or anything in this world, but With a finger touch, Myste can make someone’s very blood boil in their veins unnaturally.
Myste is also skilled in the creation of items and thing- none of them living. These items are all never bigger than Myste herself and bare a sort of- uniformity to them. With Myste’s special thing against technology- she can’t make anything technologically advanced (about 1800th century and back she can do... and once in a while she can make a hand grinding can opener...) But it has to be an item she has innate familiarity with and if she say.. conjures two knives, they are exactly alike. Even if she conjured a knife again, the next night it’s her “mental image” of knife. They are all uniformly the same without dings, scratches or dents- they look “brand new”. She can not create life, but she can make her items permanent, semi permanent or banish the things of her creating.
Myste can do certain rituals of magic to allow her to do different effects to her benefit. All take time, and blood to perform and are in no way “instantaneous”
Defense of the Sacred Haven- prevents sunlight from entering an area with in 20 feet of the casting of this ritual. Sunlight bounces off windows and doorways leaving an unnatural darkness beyond. However, should Myste leave this area, the spell fades as if it was nothing- otherwise it ends at dusk of the following day. (takes one hour to perform)
Illuminate Trail After burning a twelve inch strip of white ribbon kept on her person for 24 hours, myste can target one person’s trail and follow it. She must know this person a bit more than casually. (Ie: showing her a picture won’t do, but if she had a casual five minute conversation with them she could.) The trail blazes with white light- airplanes, trains..everything leaves a trail she can follow. Only if the target reaches it’s destination or goes through running water does the trail stop.
Purity of the Flesh Myste can cast off and cleanse her body of all foreign material with this ritual. She must meditate on bare earth or stone for fifteen minutes. All foreign material (bullets, poison, drugs, dirt, alcohol...clothing... make up... etc. Rise to the surface and flake off in a gritty gray film that settles around her. This doesn’t remove enhancements, mind control or diseases of the blood.
Warding Circles Myste can create warding circles and wards against various creatures. the circle and the wards do not stop people from touching them- in fact, they even give a warning “breeze”... if that’s ignored the person touching them that they are warded against gets a nasty zap. It is quite possible to “leave” a warding circle or keep touching a warded item, it just hurts like no one’s business. (But does no real “lasting” damage) (There are many “types” of wards and warding circles against a variety of creatures all take 10 minutes to prepare and 10 hours before they activate after the preparation. They last 1 year and a day from the casting.
Bone of Lies One of the more nastier spells Myste bothers to remember. It requires the corpse of someone at least 200 years old. The bones (various) can be used in sections. The ritual gives the bone the ability to force the holder of it to speak the truth. Each bone must be magically imbued and can only be used 10 times. each time it is used, the bone turns a darker and darker gray until it’s ebony with corruption at which point it ceases to be able to be used.
Blood Contract It’s hard to say exactly how, or why this ritual works, some say demons, other say most are too damn afraid not to do what it says. Either way, this is a contract, written in blood and signed by two (or more) people into doing the contract- both sides are beholden to do what they said they did or the consequences listed in the document are enacted. This contact can only be dissolved when the contract’s deed is done or the contract itself is burned. It takes 3 nights for a contract to be ratified into creation before the parties involved are forced to do as it says.
Finally.......
The most dangerous aspect of Myste is her ability to .. change.. others into vampires like herself. Unlike “vampire” myths of normal earth, it’s a ritual like any other that involves drinking a mortal to the brink of death and then giving her blood in return. In Myste’s culture this is called the embrace and comes with a very heavy set of responsibilities between childe (newly embraced) and the sire (the elder vampire.)
If Myste drank from humans - which she does not, she prefers drinking animal blood (it makes her feel more human and less.. monstrous...) - she wouldn’t turn them into a vampire. The only way to “get” her curse is to exchange blood with her of a certain amount.
A limited amount of blood without draining previously will grant her “target” a certain about of healing, a certain amount of strength and a certain amount of damage absorbtion (again, just “barely” superhuman, a “class one” if you will..) However this comes with a price, that person has a bond with Myste. This “bond” causes a sort of “love” or “affection” unnaturally for her- a desire to protect- and care for the target. This effect- and the use of the powers, will leave once the strange blood is gone out of their system. (LIke Myste, using the powers “drains” the magic blood and the only way for a “target” (or “Ghoul”) to gain more is to get more blood from Myste... and yes.. people have gone crazy as ghouls before... It is, as they say, addicting as hell...
* There is a price to be paid from the POWERS THAT BE for this gift as well, not just the bond between Myste n person, but also between POWERS THAT BE and this gift. However, in a jam and to save a life, there are worse things than being bound to a vampire.............right?
How the mutations will grow and develop potentially down the road:
Myste is at the height of her power- in fact, she doesn’t even really -want- her power as it is... So ideally her “potential” would be to become human with a lot less access to a lot of her powers now... You know.. should the Powers that Be ever decide to let her go...
Drawbacks of the Mutations, Weakness or ties in to other “problems” listed above and how that equals out what you have to begin with:
(Vampire Drawbacks)
- Myste can only hold a certain amount of blood in her system at any one time- thus her “casting” of most of these “magics” is limited.
- If Myste runs out of blood, she dies as naturally as if she lost her head.
- Myste can die in a variety of fun ways- too much damage to her body, losing her head, etc.
- Staking with a wooden stake induces a paralysis where Myste’s “aware” in her body but completely unable to act- it doesn’t, however, kill her.
- Myste has a reflection and isn’t overcome by Garlic. However, because she’s religious she doesn’t like Crosses or what they represent- which is what she lost.. .and Yes, she will scatter away from a brandished cross like any good hissing vampire.
- Myste is unable to bear sunlight- specifically. She can handle UV lamps and a variety of other things with some discomfort, but sunlight is right out. It burns her skin regardless of the covering and well, it’s just not a pretty sight. (Moonlight/sunlight or other mutant powers with light do agg damage to myste. See agg damage below)
- Myste is not immune to fire. While unlike most of her brethren she can control, manipulate and otherwise play with fire- IF she uses the right power -and- if she has the blood for it. Otherwise fire is as fire does and burns just as well as sunlight, causing aggravated damage. (Myste’s control is never as good as a mutant who has fire powers or the ability to manipulate fire. She’s good, and fire thinks of her as “fire friend” but if it is commanded it will burn her as easily as it burns anything else. )
- While Myste can heal regular damage pretty fast with various skills (listed above) Aggravated damage by sunlight, fire, phosphorous rounds (bullets) and some acids.. and of course, crosses pressed into her skin, will cause agg damage. Agg damage takes much longer to heal, even for someone of Myste’s skills, often taking weeks to repair instead of but the matter of minutes or hours. Myste still can’t recover if someone lops off her head or chops out her heart. She requires both to maintain “life”.
(Personal Drawbacks)
- Myste is technologically phobic. Oh she doesn’t think it contains devils, and she knows taking her picture doesn’t steal her soul. She just. hates technology. She gets confused with the simplest of technologies. She can operate a toilet and most of the time a can opener or a sink. However turning on T.V.s, dialing numbers on a phone.. and god forbid, driving a car are simply beyond her. She can ride horses, drive carts, but the whole “car” thing throws her groove off. She requires other people to handle these tasks or she must find a way “around” them- such as walking or screaming at someone from a distance.
-Myste has been ordered by the “people behind the curtain” who brought her, the other mutants and the people of chicago to chicago to do certain tasks and jobs. She is bound by their rules and judgements as surely as the mutants and people are bound to their things in character. She is the bridge between Them and the Players (for lack of a better term) but that is a shaky position... and no one says she can’t be replaced.
- Myste is forbidden to leave the grounds of the Blue Velvet Club except once a week for a few hours. She can choose when she leaves, but it’s always going ot be at night and she always must return in the morning or face the price of breaking the rules. (Read: The powers that be will not be happy... at all..)
- Myste is forbidden to show any one person more favoritism then another. Should it look like she has a favorite, well.. there’s orders for that too. Suffice to say she has every reason to never, ever, encourage “relations” with the other people in the city. She even keeps her two “helpers” well at arms length to ensure their safety.
- Myste owns some “tools” that help control and maintenance the city. These are bound to Myste’s very self and should they be destroyed, Mystes life is forfeit. ((Staff Note: The Bottle, The Wand and the Mirror))

HISTORY OF THE CHARACTER:
Myste wasn’t from this dimension. Hell, she wasn’t even from this type of place. She was Other, she was Foreign. She was a vampire. In her world she had been an Elder, one with plenty of enemies and every year she lost someone new someone she cared for. And it was starting to be very hard to care for anyone. The Beast that lived inside all vampires grew closer and closer to what was all that was left under the skin. She had failed over and over to obtain her Humanity once again- and shed off the curse that was given to her when she had been but 23. Stupid, young and in love with love she had fallen into the trap.
And vampirism was a trap. A seductive, wondrous “you’ll live forever” trap. But by god it was a trap. Myste felt it every time she got up, later and later into the evenings as her humanity waned with her patience. Once her home had been filled with laughter, of children of all shapes and sizes, of all kith and kin. She had raised werewolves, hunters, mortals, vampires... Through them she had retained her humanity and when in doubt, went with what a proper mother should do.
But her nest was empty. The last of her children were long gone and fledged out ot make their own path. The nights were shorter, and she could feel herself slipping in and out of Torpor- a state of sleep that is not sleep. And thse moments of waking no longer held what they used to. No longer did her DVD’s of Sailor Moon and other “bright” shiny cartoons bring her happiness. Indeed, so few things spoke of the happier times, of fantasy where honor and respect still ruled. Now they were filled with far too much reality for young eyes.
Myste was over a thousand and some collected hundred years old. Her mortal life now seemed like a dream- the only real part of it was the only child by birth that came from her mortal body. But that child, like the others, were long gone in their quest to make their own place. Her vampiric years a march of faces and places that didn’t... “matter” anymore. Oh, she remembered some people.. but the spark was gone. Had been since the last betrayal of that honor, and that respect.
When a friend killed a brother. Raziel. Ugly as hell with a skeleton’s grin and figure, Raz had been the priest who kept those of their gather reminded of the higher hopes. That one day they could reach Golconda, a state that allowed a vampire to regain their mortal form. Regain their soul. Regain the right to go to heaven instead of the damned pits of hell most vampires, most kindred, believed in. Raziel had stayed behind in the last city they called home when the powers-that-be decided the elders were too old, too crafty...
And their all too human seeking hearts believed that their ways would win out.
Raziel died, like a dog, chained to a wall. Beaten to death by the man they had called friend while the love of his life- lover of the man who did the beating, killed him. Inch by inch until he bled and died into final death- but ashes on the wind.
She had mourned.
Now she was empty. There was nothing left to hold her here except that fragile promisee that she not do “anything foolish”. So every day she mocked life by living. Everyday she mocked life by taking another false, unneeded breath. Every day she stumbled around her home- ancient in modern standards- while she remembered how to turn on the faucets to cold or hot water. Technology had begun to baffle her at the turn of the 19th century... In this day and age it was completely nonsensical. Perhaps that’s why she no longer watched her Sailor moon or other tv shows- without someone to assist her she couldn’t even turn on the T.V. let alone operate the Divide player.
Then it happened. One night she was puttering about her workshop when They approached her.
They offered her a chance of a lifetime.... perhaps of more than one lifetimes... they offered to make her mortal. Not only that, but they would give her a place to live- and die- like a mortal. All she had to do was fulfill a task, be an impartial judge to some various people and record what they do. Record their actions, give them tests to succeed - or fail- at. Give them a chance to be something other than what their lives would have gone on to do.
How could she say no? It didn’t take long to pack up her lab, her dvds and her clothes. So it surprised her a little bit when they dropped her off into an empty city. It surprised and shocked her as the city began to fill up with humans dropping in out of various places without so much as a rhyme or reason. In late fall she had set up everything to her desires. She had even found two lovely assistants she’d require to be able to function in the day and the nights of this place. Oh, and she could watch her damn Dvd’s again. Even if this era didn’t have the “DVD” players yet, they weren’t far from the technology that if she kept it in her private quarters the only ones who knew where her two “helpers”.
Then it was time. Christmas Eve. Myste settled before her tv and began to watch as those mysterious benefactors who brought her to be an impartial witness and witch to be- dropped them in various locations around the city. Myste vowed not to be attached to them- for surely such attachment would be deadly to her plans. She had every intention to become a mortal and live and die an old woman. None of these ... “Mutants” would get in her way of that goal.
None of them.
